Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from March of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has secured 21 victories at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

His retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet saved four early opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
